Our representation of the world

“The world is as we perceive it” …

Certainly, we have previously heard this affirmation, but have we ever measured to what extent our deep thoughts create our reality? “I think that life is hard”, “I believe we have to work a lot to deserve a good salary”, “I think my children need to be protected from this hostile world” … It is those convictions, those personal beliefs that rule our life. And they also show us that we like to control our surroundings, even decide in place of the other what we assume is the best for them. If you recognize yourself in this description, try to practice letting go and fluidity.

Life shows us every day that we are right to think what we are thinking… and yet, the Universe just reflects our inner world. How to make sure? We just need to look into our past; to five, ten years ago. In which way were we thinking, what happened when we changed our perspective? Reaching this understanding (which gets us out of victimization and brings us to our responsibility), it is now important to uncover one’s thoughts, often subconscious, so we can reach a higher level of personal development.

Let’s take the time to settle, to inhale deeply, and engage in a little introspection. For instance, what representation do I have of women? Are they strong, fragile, helpless, or in their personal power? Next, what is my view on men? Are they protective, authoritative, submissive, uncompromising, sharing? … And the next question could be: what impression did my parents leave on me? Indeed, we replicate what we know, and our first approach to the world is the one we receive from our parental lineage. Thus, we see that our environment (spouse, child, colleagues, boss) confirms to us this view of the world.

Following those realizations, there is no need to judge anything, because everyone does their best, but simply say to oneself: now that I understand my way of functioning, I can change what doesn’t serve me anymore, to build my life more positively. For does it help me to consider the woman as a submitted, withdrawn person, or a man as selfish or superior (and vice versa)? In the same way, does the world represent a hostile, competitive, indifferent environment, or is it peaceful, harmonious, filled with people attentive to each other?…

Uncovering the slightest of our thoughts, our most subconscious representations, our social and cultural conditioning is a practice slowly leading to a greater self-control, to a broader understanding of our personal history. It is also very interesting to do this practice with multiple people, in order to compare the different views, and recreate a positive collective image of the planet and society.

And let’s not forget:

The outside world is only the reflection of our inner world.
